Bitless Riding under construction....

Bitless riding isn't for everyone and cannot be used for every discipline (right now!) and this is not about making anyone feel they're being criticised because they use bits! The only way to guarantee critisim is if you are not using the correct bit and haven't any idea of your horses' mouth conformation, way of going, how you ride etc.etc.... having said this, every horse and rider could benefit greatly by incorporating bitless riding into their training in some way; even if just a break on a relaxing hack for instance. A common misconception is that a rider has less control when using a bitless bridle; it's as if the horse knows and maybe thinks, 'oh the dopey moo has forgotten to put that metal thing in my mouth! I'm gonna bolt off down the road, ha!'....! A horse that has been trained to be handled and ridden bitless is as under control as a horse who is trained to be ridden in a bit and in many instances more so. For many horses and maybe due to incorrect bit fitting; they are more anxious and adrenalin fuelled in a bit so can react far more whereas a bitless horse will be more relaxed and calmer.
